Honda Ballade 1.5 Engine FAQ

4 Signs That Your Engine May Need Replacement
When your car is experiencing problems with its engine, it could be due to a number of reasons. There are several signs to watch for that may indicate your engine is failing.

When your car starts creating increased amounts of blue/gray exhaust smoke, it may be time to consider replacement. Blue/gray flue gases are usually caused by unburned fuel or oil entering the combustion chamber. Replacing an engine will require the waste gate and catalytic converter also be replaced, which can cause costly repairs after the initial installation of an engine.

Another problem that you can find with your car's engine is knocking noises- this means that there are foreign particles making contact with your pistons and valves causing them to act abnormally or wear down sooner than necessary. You should also note other sounds like whirring, grinding, rattling, and popping. If you hear any of these sounds, it's definitely time to consider replacement.

A lack of power in your engine can be another sign that it may need replacement. You should take this symptom into consideration if you notice a stronger pull on the gas pedal and no speed increase or loss in acceleration after stepping on the gas for 30 seconds or more. This could also mean there is an issue with your gearbox- which means that both will need to be replaced along with other components like belts and hoses overall making it very costly to replace your overall vehicle engine.

Last but certainly not least, decreasing gas mileage could indicate an issue with the internal parts of your engine such as valves and timing gears wearing down prematurely due to age and other factors. Other symptoms include engine misfires, rough idling, and loss of power during acceleration.
