From 1994 to 1999, a 1.3-liter Korean engine of the Alpha family, the G4EA, was produced. This next development of Hyundai was put only on the Accent of the first generation, but its analogues began to be used everywhere. For example, such a well-known injector version as G4EH. Consider the main indicators of the power plant in detail. Its cylinder block is cast iron, it represents a single design with cylinders, a cooling jacket and oil channels. The block has 5 supports for the main bearings of the crankshaft. They are with removable covers, fixed to the BC with bolts. The crankshaft is also cast iron, made firmly. In addition to 5 main journals, it has 4 connecting rod journals (KSh), it is also equipped with 8 counterweights, which are cast together with the shaft. Special channels leading from the crankshaft to the connecting rods supply oil to the internal combustion engine. The crankshaft is limited in axial movement - 3 main bearing shells with thrust flanges are responsible for this function. The bearing shells themselves are metal, but with a low coefficient of friction and soft working surfaces. A camshaft pulley is mounted on the front side of the crankshaft. The camshaft of the G4EA engine is cast, cast iron. The unit is equipped with 12 cams. The shaft is driven by a toothed belt from the crankshaft. The camshaft mark must correspond to the mark on the bearing housing, at the same time the marks on the crankshaft and the oil pump cover must match. Only in this case is a normal mutual position ensured on the motor. Pistons with extreme wear of the working part. They sit on two protective rings (compression), preventing the breakthrough of gases into the engine crankcase. The rings successfully remove most of the heat, effectively cooling the parts. Steel piston pins in the form of a tube are mounted in the connecting rod heads. The cylinder head is also made of aluminum alloy. It is the same for all four cylinders. It has a multi-layer reinforced lining. It cannot be reused. Saddles and bushings are pressed into the cylinder head. An oil-resistant rubber cuff is installed on top of them. Valves of steel type are located in the letter V in two rows. They are activated from the camshaft, which affects the rocker arms. Rocker arms deserve special attention. They are made of soft and light metal alloy and sit on 2 axles. Rocker arms are also equipped with special movable rollers made of durable metal. Hydraulic compensators are installed at the end of the rocker arms. They move them on the axis of the valves. In addition, their tasks include automatically selecting thermal gaps during the operation of the motor, which reduces the noise of the GDS mechanism and eliminates its breakdown. The lubrication system works forcibly, turning on through the oil pump. The latter is endowed with gears with a ring gear. The operation of the pump is as follows: through the oil receiver, it takes the lubricant from the crankcase and supplies it to the main rail through a conventional filter equipped with several valves. The main line of the lubrication system has several channels extending from it. The system is also equipped with a pressure sensor, which is installed on the front side of the BC. The cooling system is closed, it works through the PV valve.
