This luxury car first arrived at the market in 1989 and received a series update nine years later in 1998. The second generation of Discovery models was launched in 2004, which also received an update in 2009.
The second generation was marketed in North America as the Land Rover LR3 and Land Rover LR4 respectively. According to sources, the next-gen Discovery 5 is currently in its testing stage after it was unveiled on 28 September 2016 in the UK.
Types of Discovery Engines For Sale
4.0 L Rover V8 (petrol): Land Rover brought in the 4.0 V8 engine in 1995 to differentiate from the earlier version. Even though the displacement of this model remained same at 3946 cc, it did offer new features like extra block ribbing, new exhaust and intake system, revised pistons, and last but not least cross-bolted main bearings. The 4.0 L Rover V8 (petrol) engine produced hp of 190 (142 kW) and torque of 236 lb-ft (320 N.m)
4.6 L Rover V8 (petrol): This engine was introduced in 1996 as the successor of the 4.0 L version and was capable of producing a maximum of 225 hp (168 kW) and torque of 280 lb-ft (380 N.m). The production of this model ended in 2002 at Solihull, UK, and the final version was able to produce a maximum of 22 hp and 300 lb-ft.
2.5 L Td5 I5 (diesel): This engine was introduced for diesel powered vehicles that were in line with the recently updated Defender models. The 2.5 L Td I5 engine was electronically managed, was smoother, and more capable of generating usable torque without letting the revs go to high. Even though this engine is commonly attributed to BMW; it was first brought for Land Rover.
