Review Of The Nissan Murano
Introduction to the Nissan Murano
At the end of June 2016, the third-generation Nissan Murano (Z52) began production at the Nissan plant in St. Petersburg, which debuted at the New York Motor Show back in 2014. The Murano design was finalized: the chassis was adapted, the ground clearance was increased and the track was widened, a call system for emergency services in road accidents ERA-GLONASS was added.
The car became about 60 kg lighter than its predecessor, while retaining comparable dimensions. The manufacturer claims that the aerodynamic characteristics of Murano with the change of generations improved by 16%. The crossover is built on an aggregate platform Nissan D-platform, under the hood of an all-terrain vehicle is a 3.5-liter V6 engine or a hybrid power plant with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor.
The third-generation Murano is presented in four trim levels: Mid, High, High + and Top. The starting Mid version includes LED head optics and taillights, an I-Key keyless entry system and engine start with a button, remote engine start, as well as ZeroGravity seats with leather trim for the front and rear rows of seats, electric driver and passenger seats. The initial configuration also includes dual-zone climate control, electric folding mirrors, folding rear seats and opening the tailgate. In the High version, in addition to the equipment listed, there are available rear seat and steering wheel heating, a premium Bose audio system with 11 speakers and a subwoofer, a navigation system, as well as voice control for audio, navigation and the phone book. The next High + version is distinguished by the presence of ventilation of the front seats, as well as an Intelligent Key access system with memory settings for the driver’s seat, steering column and rear-view mirrors. The Top version gets an entertainment multimedia system for rear passengers and a panoramic roof.
Murano, equipped with a 3.5-liter gasoline V6, has a power reserve of 249 hp. With this powertrain, Murano is available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. In the first case, the car is able to accelerate from zero to 100 km / h in 7.9 seconds, and in an all-wheel drive modification – in 8.2 seconds. Combined fuel consumption will be 9.9 L / 100 km for 2WD and 10.2 L for 4WD. As an alternative to this internal combustion engine, a hybrid powerplant with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline compressor motor and electric motor is provided. Its total power is 234 hp, the drive is only full. In this version of Murano, it takes 8.3 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km / h.
Both versions of the engines are paired with a continuously variable transmission, however, the hybrid version is equipped with a completely new variator (the gas variator remains almost unchanged), in which a steel chain is used instead of a plate belt, in addition, the new transmission became lighter, the friction level is reduced by 40% , reduced pressure on the pulleys, the dimensions of the oil pump have become more compact, the operating range is expanded. As in previous generations, the crossover uses a fully independent suspension with McPherson struts in front and a multi-link at the rear. However, despite the surviving design, the undercarriage was seriously upgraded, the stiffness of the anti-roll bars (front – by 5%, rear – by 23%), springs and shock absorbers with different characteristics were installed.
As befits a modern car of this class, Murano is equipped with a rich set of active and passive safety systems. Four cameras “in a circle” ensure the operation of BSW systems (monitors vehicles in the “dead zone”), CTA (approaching another car from either side), as well as Around View all-round monitor with a moving object detection system (MOD), which greatly facilitates maneuvering cramped or parking. But even in the basic configuration around the cabin, airbags are installed that are part of the Nissan Advanced Airbag System intelligent system, a wide range of active systems (ABS, EBD, BAS, ESP, HAC), as well as cruise control and a pressure monitoring system are provided tires, front and rear parking sensors.
Changes had a beneficial effect on many characteristics of the third Murano and, above all, on comfort – the car received more comfortable seats, visibility improved. The second row of seats became even more spacious – the distance between the knees and the back of the front seat increased by 36 mm. The minimum amount of luggage increased from 402 to 452 liters (1,603 liters with the rear seats folded when loading under the roof). For the first time in the South African market, the car is officially presented not only with the familiar All Mode 4×4-i all-wheel drive system, but also with front-wheel drive (in the Mid configuration).
