Introduction To The Toyota Etios
The Toyota Etios is a line of four-door sedan and hatchback cars manufactured by Japanese car manufacturer Toyota for the Indian car market since 2010 and also for South Africa and Brazil since 2012, and Indonesia since 2013 (1.2 liter petrol hatchback). The Etios nameplate comes from the Greek “Ethos”, which means spirit, character, and ideas. The sedan version was released in December 2010 and the Liva hatchback was launched in June 2011.
By May 2012, the Etios Series had achieved sales of 100,000 units in India.
Toyota released the Etios MR2 in 2010 under the model code “AK10”. If equipped with the 1.2 liter 3NR-FE engine, it is known as the “NGK12”. Similarly, the 1.5-liter 2NR version is identified with the “NGK15” code. The 1.4 liter 1ND diesel version is referred to as the “NUK15”. The Etios are based on the EFC platform.
