Introduction To The W204 Mercedes Benz

The Mercedes-Benz 204 series is a series of the mid-range C-Class. It was produced from March 2007 to June 2015 and replaced the 203 series built since March 2000.

The production of the sedan ended at the beginning of May 2014. The successor has been manufactured with the Mercedes-Benz 205 series since the beginning of February 2014. In March 2014 the production of the station wagon was stopped. As the last model in this series, the coupe was built until June 2015.

General

When it appeared as the smallest series, the first C-Class represented the entry into the Mercedes-Benz model range. From 1997 there was an even smaller model with the A-Class , but the C-Class remained the “smallest” Mercedes-Benz with rear wheel drive . With the third generation of the 204 series , the series was slightly larger overall. In contrast, the c w value dropped to 0.25 to 0.33 depending on the model.

The W-204 sedan was first presented to the press in the Mercedes-Benz World in Stuttgart on January 18, 2007 and presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2007 . The notchback sedan in December 2007 a combined followed (station wagon).

There was no longer a shortened coupé on the same basis as the predecessor, the old CLC class was still built until 2011. In June 2011, it was replaced by a new coupe that was now about the same size as the sedan.

Model maintenance

After a facelift, the 204 series had been extensively revised since March 26, 2011. The apron was only slightly revised at the rear and the rear lights also received a new graphic. On the technical side, in addition to the six-cylinder engines, the four-cylinder engines were also available in the future with the revised 7G-TRONIC PLUS , which in turn comes with a start-stop system. The V6 petrol engine was replaced by the new development M 276 with 225 kW (306 hp); the V6 diesel was the OM 642 LS , which comes with 195 kW (265 hp). The C 300 was dropped, while the C 180 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY was now launched in Germany. The CGI name suffix for engines with direct injection is omitted. The COMAND Online multimedia system made it possible to surf the Internet in the C-Class for the first time.
