Engine Finder account deletion

Delete Your Account

How to close your Engine Finder account, what gets deleted, and what we're required to keep.

Delete your account in the app

If you have the Engine Finder app installed, you can delete your account yourself — you don't need to email anyone or wait for us.

  1. Open the Engine Finder app and sign in.
  2. Tap the Profile tab.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account.
  4. Read what will be removed, then tap Delete my account permanently.
  5. Confirm on the final prompt. Your account is deleted immediately and you're signed out.

This cannot be undone

There is no recovery window and no way to restore a deleted account. If you sign up again later you'll be starting from scratch with a new account.

Don't have the app? Ask us instead

If you signed up on the website, no longer have the app installed, or you're a supplier (see below), email us and we'll do it for you.

Email info@enginefinder.co.za from the address on your account, with the subject "Delete my account". Include the phone number you used, so we can find the right record.

We'll confirm your identity, action it within 30 days, and email you when it's done.

What is deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes:

  • Your login — your email address and password are erased from our authentication system. You will not be able to sign in again on any device.
  • Your saved profile — the name, phone number and city you saved in the app.
  • Your push notification registrations — any devices set up to receive quote alerts stop receiving them.
  • Your escrow identity record — the name, email and phone we held with our escrow partner for checkout.

What we keep, and why

We're straight with you about this rather than burying it: deleting your account does not retract enquiries you've already sent.

Enquiries already sent to suppliers

When you submit an enquiry, Engine Finder passes it to independent suppliers so they can quote you. Those suppliers are separate businesses and separate responsible parties — the enquiry is theirs once it's delivered, and they have their own tax, accounting and consumer-protection record-keeping obligations under South African law.

So the enquiry record — the part you typed, plus the contact details you gave so a supplier could reach you — stays in our system as the record of that transaction. It is no longer linked to a login, because the login no longer exists.

Invoices, payments and legal records

Where there are financial records, we're required to retain them for the periods set out in the Companies Act and the Tax Administration Act.

Deletion audit trail

We log the fact that an account was deleted, when, and at whose request. POPIA requires us to be able to demonstrate that we honoured your request — that log is how we do it.

Want your enquiries erased too?

That's a separate request, and you're entitled to make it. Under POPIA you can ask us to delete or de-identify personal information we no longer have grounds to hold.

Email info@enginefinder.co.za with the subject "POPIA erasure request". We'll handle it by hand, tell you what we can remove and what we're legally required to keep, and confirm in writing.

Full detail on your rights is in our Privacy Policy.

If you're a supplier

Supplier accounts can't be deleted from the app, on purpose. A supplier login is attached to a whole business record — your listing, your team's logins, your quotes, your invoices and your lead history. Deleting the login would take all of that with it, and there'd be no getting it back.

Email info@enginefinder.co.za and we'll close your account by hand, once outstanding invoices and your team's access are settled.
